You want to be sure to pay for the right allotment. Most car rental companies will provide you with the ability to rent the car by the kilometer or by the day. Choose the option that best fits your travel plans. Find out what additional charges there are on the vehicle. This may include fuel charges (if you do not bring the vehicle back with a full tank of gas) and mileage overages. These are very expensive and will require some careful planning to avoid.
Most car rental companies also require that you have a major credit card on file with them at the time of booking. This will serve as a form of deposit for the vehicle's use. You will also be charged late fees if you do not bring the vehicle back on time. Whenever you are renting a vehicle in Spain, be sure you understand the contract. Ask for an English version to sign, one that you can read and agree to. Booking online helps to minimize this problem since the websites are in English for you.
